Cricket
Lodge was constructed in 1905 as a summer cottage for the
late John and Bert Himmelein. John Himmelein was the manager
of the Himmelein Stock Company. For 35 years, his wife, whose
stage name was Beatrice Earle, was the leading lady of his
vaudeville company.
Cricket
Lodge was named after a favorite character in one of Beatrice
Earle's plays. It remained a part of the Himmelein family
until 1984 when it was purchased by its present owners,
Frank and Chris Yako. In 1985, the home which had previously
been a private residence, opened its doors as Cricket Lodge
Bed and Breakfast.

Mornings
are filled with the smell of freshly brewed coffee, tea,
homemade muffins and breads. Coffee is available at seven
a.m. for the early risers who may want to explore the island
in the quiet morning hours. Breakfast at Cricket Lodge
has become to many the time of day when old friends gather
and new friendships are made.
We
serve leisurely breakfasts on our screened in front porch,
weather permitting. We gladly will accommodate any dietary
needs with advance notice.
Cricket
Lodge has become to our guests a place to enjoy the simple
things in life, to talk, listen, and laugh. A place where
many say "this is the way life should be." We hope your
stay will leave a lasting impression and a desire to return,
to the place where memories are made from breakfast in
the morning to turn down service at night.
